It is just a choice between fear and love

Bill Hicks was an American stand-up comedian, social critic, satirist and musician. His material largely consisted of general discussions about society, religion, politics, philosophy and personal issues, and was often controversial and steeped in dark comedy. In both his stand-up performances and during interviews, he often criticized consumerism, superficiality, mediocrity and banality within the media and popular culture, describing them as oppressive tools of the ruling class, meant to ‘keep people stupid and apathetic’.

In this video he ensures that to have a better life it’s not necessary much effort, hard work or have money. We just have to make a decision.

John Cleese es un actor, comediante, guionista y productor especialista en sátira, comedia negra y humor surrealista. También es inglés, mucho. A fines de la década de los 60 co-fundó Monty Python, el grupo de comediantes responsable del mítico en influyente programa de televisión Monty Python's Flying Circus. Junto a sus compañeros Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin y Graham Chapman, Cleese realizó películas como Los caballeros de la mesa cuadrada y sus locos seguidores (1975), La vida de Brian (1979) o El sentido de la vida (1983).

A mediados de la década de 1970, co-escribió con su primera esposa Connie Booth la comedia de situación Fawlty Towers, y la protagonizó como Basil Fawlty. Cleese recibió por ella el premio BAFTA de 1980 al mejor actor de comedia, y en el año 2000 la serie encabezó la lista del British Film Institute de los 100 mejores programas de televisión británicos. En una encuesta de Channel 4 de 2001, Basil Fawlty ocupó el segundo lugar en la lista de los 100 mejores personajes de televisión.

De vuelta al cine, escribió y protagonizó junto a Kevin Kline, Jamie Lee Curtis y el ex colega de Monty Python Michael Palin Un pez llamado Wanda (1989) y Criaturas feroces (1997). Por la primera fue nominado al Premio Oscar al Mejor Guión Original.

Con Antony Jay, guionista del programa Yes Minister, co-fundó Video Arts, una productora que realiza vídeos como éste, en el que explica de una manera realmente seria cómo funciona la creatividad.

John Cleese is an English actor, comedian, screenwriter and producer specialised in satire, black comedy, sketch comedy and surreal humour. He is also British, very British. In the late 1960s he co-founded Monty Python, the comedy troupe responsible for the BBC sketch show Monty Python's Flying Circus. Along with his co-stars Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and Graham Chapman, Cleese made films as Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), Life of Brian (1979) or The Meaning of Life (1983).

In the mid-1970s, Cleese and first wife Connie Booth co-wrote the sitcom Fawlty Towers, and he starred in it as Basil Fawlty. The series resulted in Cleese's receiving the 1980 BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance, and in 2000 the show topped the British Film Institute's list of the 100 Greatest British Television Programmes. In a 2001 Channel 4 poll, Basil Fawlty was ranked second on its list of the 100 Greatest TV Characters.

Back to movies, he co-starred with Kevin Kline, Jamie Lee Curtis and former Python colleague Michael Palin A Fish Called Wanda (1989) and Fierce Creatures (1997), both of which he also wrote. For the first he was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

With Yes Minister writer, Antony Jay, he co-founded Video Arts, a production company making entertaining training films like this, in which he explains in a really serious way how creativity works.

Jorge Furtado dirigió en 1989 este corto documental utilizando el itinerario que hace un tomate como base para formular una crítica de la miseria humana, haciendo patente la cadena de relaciones que la construyen y la hacen invisible, que la sitúan como una parte lógica del orden social y económico en el que vivimos y que debido a su permanencia en el tiempo ya nos parece esencial y no accidental.The irony appears from the beginning and over a black background and with stark cynicism we can read 'This is not a fiction film', 'There is a place called the Island of Flowers' and 'God does not exist'.
