WHAT ABOUT: The future by Esperanza Spalding

‘All species evolve to be in harmony with their environment’.

Singer, bassist and American jazz composer, she was awarded with the Grammy for the Best New Artist in 2011, the first jazz artist who achieves it. While studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, she shared the stage with many jazz icons including pianist Michel Camilo, singer Patti Austin, guitarist Adam Rogers and saxophonists Donald Harrison and Joe Lovano. Esperanza was invited to play in the delivery of the Nobel Peace Prize to Barack Obama in 2009, and to date has released four solo albums: ‘Junjo’ (2006), ‘Esperanza’ (2008), ‘Chamber Music Society’ (2010) and ‘Radio Music Society’ (2012).

Born in Barcelona, she writes stories since she was four years old. She studied art history and psychology, although not finished either, and piano and guitar with the same result.
